Ontario Regions Announce 2026 Priority Sectors and Occupations for Francophone Community Immigration Pilot

The three Ontario regions participating in the Francophone Community Immigration Pilot (FCIP) have unveiled their priority sectors and occupations for 2026.

All regions have updated their list of eligible occupations to align with the evolving local labor market demands.

This article will provide an overview of the 2026 priority sectors and occupations for each Ontario region involved in the FCIP.

  • Timmins;
  • Sudbury; and
  • Superior East Region.

Foreign nationals seeking consideration under the FCIP must meet French-language requirements and hold a job offer from a designated employer in a priority sector and occupation.

Timmins

Located on the Mattagami First Nation Traditional Territory in Northeastern Ontario, Timmins is focusing on the same five sectors as in the previous year:

  • Education, law and social, community and government services;
  • Health;
  • Business, finance and administration;
  • Natural resources, agriculture and related production; and
  • Trades, transport and equipment operators.

Timmins has allocated more points in its community scoring grid to individuals with job offers in the last three priority sectors mentioned above.

Timmins is one of the two regions participating in both the FCIP and the Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP), the other being Sudbury.
