Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program Reaches 2025 Nomination Allocation
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) has fully utilized its 2025 nomination allocation, as per the latest program update on December 17.
The OINP has issued a total of 10,750 nominations to applicants throughout 2025.
Impact on Applicants
Despite reaching the 2025 cap, Ontario will continue to accept new applications and evaluate both new and existing applications under the 2026 nomination allocation.
- New applications submitted;
- Applications already in the system.
Applicants are advised to stay updated through the OINP’s e-Filing portal for the latest information on their applications.
Delays in nominations may occur as Ontario transitions to the 2026 nomination allotment.
It’s important to note that a provincial nomination differs from an invitation to apply (ITA), as provinces typically issue more ITAs than available nominations to accommodate refusals or withdrawals.
Changes in OINP for 2025
At the start of 2025, the federal government reduced nomination allocations for most provinces and territories by 50%, prompting provinces like Ontario to be more selective in their nominations.
In June, the OINP confirmed a 50% reduction in nomination slots to 10,750 from the 2024 allocation of 21,500.
Ontario revamped its Employer Job Offer streams by introducing an online Employer Portal and transitioning to an employer-led process. The OINP also launched the e-Filing system.
In December, the province proposed an overhaul of its PNP, consolidating Employer: Job Offer streams and introducing new streams like priority healthcare, entrepreneur, and exceptional talent streams.
The federal government’s latest Immigration Levels Plan aims for 91,500 PNP admissions in 2026, a 66% increase from the previous target, hinting at potential higher nomination allocations for provinces next year.
