Newfoundland and Labrador recently invited a group of foreign workers to apply for Canadian permanent residence (PR), marking the 16th provincial immigration selection round of the year.

Selected workers have the opportunity to submit applications for provincial nomination, which, once approved, allows them to apply for PR through the federal government as provincial nominees.

In-Canada nominees may also qualify for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP) after submitting their PR applications, thanks to recent changes in the process.

Under a temporary federal measure introduced in June 2026, base PNP nominees can now apply for a BOWP without needing an Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR) for their PR file.

Notably, no Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) candidates were included in this round, continuing a trend observed throughout the year.

The specific NLPNP streams or industries represented by the invited candidates were not disclosed by the province, maintaining confidentiality.
