New Brunswick has prolonged the opportunity for international student graduates of select healthcare and child education programs at two private colleges to pursue permanent residence in the province. The Private Career College Graduate Pilot, available at Oulton College and Eastern College, has been extended until December 31, 2027. Through this initiative, graduates with full-time job offers related to their programs can be nominated for permanent residence by the province. They can also secure work authorization while their permanent residence application is in progress. This extension offers a crucial pathway for graduates aiming to establish their careers and lives in Canada post-graduation, safeguarding their status. Notably, graduates from these colleges are not eligible for the federal post-graduation work permit program, which is commonly relied upon by international students for work authorization during their pursuit of permanent residency through various pathways. The recent extension, announced on New Brunswick’s Important Notices webpage, aims to support current international students enrolled in eligible programs who would not have graduated by the original pilot end date. To qualify under this pilot, foreign nationals must have completed an eligible program at either Oulton College or Eastern College and obtained a full-time job offer in a priority occupation directly linked to their field of study. Specific programs and corresponding occupations are outlined for each college. This extension provides a valuable opportunity for international graduates to establish themselves in Canada and contribute to the local workforce.
