International Transit Passengers Exemption at Canadian Airports

International travelers now have the opportunity to bypass border security procedures when transiting through major airports in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal.

Upon landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport (Terminal 1), Vancouver International Airport, or Montréal Pierre Elliott-Trudeau International Airport, transiting passengers can proceed directly to international departures without the need to interact with a border officer or check in at a kiosk.

To qualify for the exemption from border control, passengers must possess a confirmed airline ticket for an international flight departing from Canada within 24 hours of their arrival. Additionally, they are required to stay within the airport’s designated international departure zone until boarding their connecting flight.

The exemption from border security measures has been implemented by the Canada Border Services Agency to facilitate the transit process for international passengers.
