Enhanced Processing Efficiency for Temporary Residence Applications in Canada
Recent updates from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada reveal accelerated processing times for various temporary residence applications without any category experiencing delays.
Significant enhancements were observed across work permits, study permits, visitor visas, and super visas. The most remarkable progress was noted in super visa processing, followed by visitor visas and study permits, while work permits displayed steady improvements.
Moreover, processing times within Canada have marginally decreased, reflecting ongoing initiatives to diminish backlogs and enhance operational efficiency.
Despite these advancements, certain applications still surpass the official service standards. Service standards represent the target timeframe that the government strives to achieve for the majority of applications, approximately 80%. They do not guarantee processing within that time frame, nor do they indicate the maximum processing duration; the complexity of cases can lead to varying processing times.
Official Service Standards:
- Work permits (in Canada): 120 days
- Work permits (outside Canada): 60 days
- International Experience Canada permits: 56 days
- Study permits (in Canada): 120 days
- Study permits (outside Canada): 60 days
- Visitor visas (outside Canada): 14 days
- Super visas: 112 days
