Exciting Opportunity: Join the 2026 Census Workforce in Canada

Get ready for an exciting opportunity to join the 2026 Census workforce in Canada. Statistics Canada is set to hire approximately 32,000 workers across the country for the upcoming census in May 2026. Individuals with valid Canadian work permits are encouraged to apply for these short-term, paid positions that include mandatory training.

The hiring process will span from March to July 2026, with positions available for enumerators and crew leaders. Enumerators will be responsible for collecting census data door-to-door, offering an hourly wage of around $25.87. Crew leaders, on the other hand, will oversee teams, work full-time, and earn approximately $31.32 per hour. Early hiring initiatives will kick off in northern and remote regions.

While enumerator roles do not contribute to Express Entry’s Canadian Experience Class for immigration purposes, crew leader positions may be considered as skilled work, albeit partially, due to the temporary nature of the contracts. This opportunity provides temporary income for work permit holders and, in some cases, may enhance eligibility for future permanent residence.
