Greater Sudbury Economic Development announced plans to support up to 85 French-speaking foreign nationals with local job offers, facilitating their path to permanent residence through the Francophone Community Immigration Pilot (FCIP).

Successful candidates under FCIP can also apply for a special two-year work permit to work in Canada while their permanent residence application is processed. Additionally, family members in Canada can obtain work permits to work for most employers in the region.

As of August 30, 32 candidates have been recommended, with 53 allocations remaining.

Eligibility for the Sudbury FCIP

To be eligible, candidates must have job offers in priority sectors and endorsed occupations. The program prioritizes workers in Arts, Culture, Recreation and Sport; Business, Finance and Administration; Education, Social, Community and Government Services; Health; Natural Resources and Agriculture; and Trades and Transport.

Greater Sudbury has identified 25 priority occupations for 2026, including Accounting and related clerks, Accounting technicians and bookkeepers, Administrative assistants, and Administrative officers.
