Canada’s passport has climbed to seventh place globally in the latest Henley Global Passport Rankings, with visa-free access to 182 destinations worldwide. This positions the Canadian passport as the strongest in North America, surpassing the American passport which remains in tenth place. Singapore retains the top spot as the world’s most powerful passport.

Throughout 2025, the Canadian passport experienced fluctuations in its ranking, starting the year in seventh place, dropping to eighth in July, and ending the year at ninth. However, a recent positive trend has seen the passport rise in ranking since January 2026.

The Henley rankings for 2026 have witnessed significant changes in the top ten passports. Europe dominates the rankings with 29 of the top-ranking passports, while Asia and other regions also contribute to the list. Notable countries like Singapore, Japan, and Sweden feature prominently in the rankings.
