Canada Extends Immigration Measures for Sudanese Residents

Canada has decided to extend its special immigration measures for Sudan until October 28, 2026, in response to the ongoing violence and atrocities in parts of Sudan that have forced millions to flee and made returning unsafe.

Under this policy, Sudanese temporary residents in Canada are allowed to extend or change their status without any fees. They also have access to free open work permits, study permit extensions, and biometrics waivers. Additionally, individuals approved for permanent residence who have lost their passports can still obtain a visa through a Single Journey Travel Document.

Furthermore, family members of Canadian citizens and permanent residents who have sought refuge from Sudan can apply for temporary extensions, work or study permits, and family-class permanent residence while in Canada.

This extension of immigration measures aims to provide continued protection to Sudanese residents amidst the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
