British Columbia’s Skills Immigration Program: A Gateway to Economic Opportunities

British Columbia’s Skills Immigration Program

British Columbia recently conducted its fifth Skills Immigration draw of the year on May 14, 2026, issuing 437 invitations to individuals who have the potential to make a significant economic impact.

Approximately half of the selected candidates were offered high-paying job opportunities, categorized as TEER 0–3 jobs with a minimum hourly wage of $59 (equivalent to approximately $120,000 per year). The remaining candidates were chosen based on their registration scores, with a minimum requirement of 135 points.

This draw is aligned with B.C.’s ‘Innovate’ initiative, designed to attract skilled professionals from diverse industries. Future draws are expected to take into account factors such as education, professional qualifications, work experience, language proficiency, geographic location, and demand for specific occupations within the province.

Ranked as the third-largest Skills Immigration draw of the year, following the rounds on April 22 and February 11, this draw brings the total number of candidates invited in 2026 to 2,143 under this category.

Individuals who receive a provincial nomination through this program are eligible to apply for permanent residency through Canada’s immigration department (IRCC). Registrations remain valid for 12 months, requiring candidates to re-register if their entry expires.
