During September 1–9, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) extended invitations to 722 workers with job offers in Alberta to apply for provincial nomination. Among these, 96 invitations were for tech workers and 51 for healthcare workers.
Recipients of the invitations have the opportunity to seek provincial nomination and, upon nomination, can proceed to apply for permanent residence (PR) through the federal government.
Applicants already in Canada awaiting the processing of their PR application can also apply for a bridging open work permit (BOWP) while their application is under review.
Effective June 9, 2026, nominees under the Alberta Opportunity Stream can benefit from an expedited process for base PNP applicants to apply for BOWPs. This federal temporary measure enables base PNP applicants to apply for a BOWP even before receiving the Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR) for their PR application.
