The majority of these invitations were through the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP), with a smaller number through the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP). Invited candidates have a limited time to submit their applications for nomination or endorsement, after which successful applicants may proceed to apply for Canadian permanent residence. Nominees applying for permanent residence through a base PNP pathway now have the opportunity to apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP) sooner under a temporary federal measure. If an applicant’s work permit expires before the BOWP application is processed, they can benefit from maintained status and continue working under certain conditions. AIP applicants, on the other hand, may qualify for a two-year employer-specific work permit tied to the program. Newfoundland and Labrador’s 2026 draws have predominantly included invitations from both provincial immigration programs, with only a few rounds focused solely on the NLPNP.
