Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program: Recent Updates and Opportunities

Recently, the Newfoundland and Labrador Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM) announced 36 invitations for provincial nomination through the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP). These invitations pave the way for selected candidates to pursue Canadian permanent residence (PR) as provincial nominees.

Effective June 9, 2026, applicants seeking permanent residence through the base PNP can now expedite their application process for Bridging Open Work Permits (BOWPs). This federal temporary measure enables base PNP applicants to qualify for a BOWP even before receiving the Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR) for their PR application.

Furthermore, applicants for BOWPs who are in Canada may continue working under maintained status if their current work permit expires while their BOWP application is under review.
