British Columbia has recently unveiled its plans for the nomination of skilled workers in priority healthcare and childcare occupations for the year 2026.

The province aims to nominate between 1,620–2,015 in-demand healthcare workers and 360–440 early childhood educators by the end of the year.

These nominations are part of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP), which has allocated a total of 6,254 nomination spaces for 2026.

If the targets are met, healthcare workers could make up 25.9% to 32.2% of all BCPNP nominations, while early childhood educators could represent 5.8% to 7.0%.

Together, these two groups may account for 31.7%–39.3% of the province’s total 2026 allocation.

The province also plans to allocate remaining spaces to workers in education, veterinary care, construction, and high-economic-impact candidates in other sectors.

In comparison to 2025, healthcare workers and early childhood educators received a combined 29.7% of the BCPNP nominations.

As part of recent changes to the BCPNP, 31 healthcare occupations have been identified as priority areas, including audiologists, speech-language pathologists, cardiologists, chiropractors, and more.
