Alberta Advantage Immigration Program: 200 Additional Nomination Slots Granted for 2026

The government has increased the nomination slots for the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) by 200 for 2026, providing more opportunities for workers to obtain permanent residence this year.

The total nomination allocation for the AAIP in 2026 now stands at 6,603, up from 6,403, with adjustments made to stream-by-stream allocations to accommodate the change.

Changes in Nomination Distribution

Following the increase in Alberta’s 2026 allocation, certain streams have seen a rise in their nomination allotments, while others have received fewer spots due to redistribution.

The Alberta Opportunity Stream, being the most sought-after stream for foreign nationals looking to settle in Alberta, received the highest number of nominations after the increase.

Conversely, fewer law enforcement professionals and entrepreneurs will now be selected for provincial nomination.
