Updates on Temporary Residence Processing Times in Canada

Recent updates from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) reveal extended processing times for temporary residence applications. The latest data shows significant delays in various categories:

  • A 14-week increase in work permit processing for applicants from Pakistan
  • A one-week delay in study permit processing for applicants from Nigeria and the Philippines
  • A four-week rise in super visa application processing from the Philippines

While there have been minor reductions in processing times, such as an 11-day decrease for super visa applications from Pakistan, overall wait times have increased. The Canadian government is expected to release another update on temporary residence processing times around August 12, 2026.

Work Permits

Work permit processing times have significantly increased for applicants from Pakistan, with a more than three-month delay. However, there was a slight decrease in processing times for applicants from Canada. Here are the current processing times compared to the previous estimates:
