Alberta’s Immigration Program 2026: Sector Focus and Invitation Statistics

During the week of April 8 to 14, 2026, the provincial Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) conducted four draws, resulting in the issuance of 332 invitations across various industries to address labor shortages in technology, healthcare, construction, and rural areas.

Key Draw Results:

  • Tech Sector (Accelerated Tech Pathway): 146 invitations with a score of 59
  • Rural Renewal Stream: 74 invitations with a score of 50
  • Healthcare Industry (Express Entry): 62 invitations with a score of 59
  • Construction & Trades (Priority Sectors): 50 invitations with a score of 60

The technology sector received the highest number of invitations, comprising approximately 43% of the total invitations issued.

As of 2026, Alberta has:

  • Granted 1,634 nominations out of the available 6,403 spots
  • 4,769 spots remaining for allocation
  • 1,535 applications currently under processing

The majority of nominations are channeled through the Alberta Opportunity Stream, representing more than half of the total allocations.

Currently, there are 42,373 candidates in the selection pool, with a significant concentration in the Alberta Opportunity Stream.

Alberta’s focus for 2026 remains on prioritizing sectors such as healthcare, technology, construction, and rural employment to address the persistent labor shortages across the province.
