Canada’s Express Entry System: A Growing Pool of Candidates
Recent data indicates a significant growth in Canada’s Express Entry pool, with over 2,100 new profiles added in a four-week period, reversing a previous downward trend.
The surge in profiles was particularly notable in the mid-range scores of 401 to 480, with an addition of nearly 3,900 profiles. Moreover, higher scores ranging from 501 to 600 also witnessed an increase, indicating a rise in the number of strong candidates joining the system.
Conversely, lower score ranges like 351 to 400 experienced a decline, attributed in part to targeted draws such as the French-language rounds that removed candidates from this group.
Implications of the Recent Draws
The latest Canadian Experience Class draw demanded a CRS score of 515, the highest requirement this year, while issuing fewer invitations compared to previous rounds. In total, close to 14,000 invitations were extended during this period, yet the pool continued to expand, suggesting an influx of around 16,000 new candidates, surpassing the number of invitations.
Overall, the data underscores a clear trend of escalating competition within the Express Entry system, particularly among mid- to high-scoring candidates, making it increasingly challenging to secure an invitation without a robust profile.
