Ontario’s Immigration Selections Prioritize Healthcare and Regional Development
Ontario recently announced the selection of 1,825 candidates through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program in a round held on February 2, 2026. The emphasis was on addressing critical healthcare needs and supporting smaller communities.
The majority of invitations were extended to healthcare professionals and early childhood educators, reflecting the persistent labor shortages in hospitals, clinics, and childcare facilities across the province. Furthermore, Ontario issued a separate batch of invitations to physicians, underscoring the ongoing demand for medical practitioners.
Moreover, a select group of candidates who expressed a willingness to settle in Eastern Ontario were chosen as part of a regional immigration initiative designed to stimulate local economies in non-urban areas.
Both candidates and employers are urged to expedite the application process, as deadlines for submissions are imminent.
