As of January 20, the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) has reached its job position limits for all capped sectors during its first intake window.
The capped sectors of SINP include accommodation and food services, retail trade, and trucking.
The first intake window, which opened on January 13, saw the positions for accommodation and food services and retail trade filled within one day, while the trucking sector reached its cap on January 20.
The next intake window is scheduled to open on March 2.
Intake Distribution by Capped Sector
The SINP received sufficient employer-submitted applications to meet its 300-position limit across all capped sectors during the first intake window from January 13 to 20.
Each of Saskatchewan’s three capped sectors had specific position limits for the first intake window:
- Accommodation and Food Services: 180 positions
- Retail Trade: 60 positions
- Trucking: 60 positions
The SINP aims to distribute nominations for capped sectors in alignment with the overall nomination allocation for the year, as well as per intake window.
In 2026, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada allocated 4,761 nomination spaces to the SINP, with 25% of these nominations designated for capped sectors, subject to potential mid-year adjustments.
The intake windows for capped sectors are designed to reflect the distribution of nominations:
| Capped Sector | Nominations Allotted per Intake Window | Nominations Allotted per Year |
|---|---|---|
| Accommodation and Food Services | 15% | 60% |
| Retail Trade | 20% | 5% |
| Trucking | 20% | 5% |
Saskatchewan indicates that future intake distributions may be adjusted based on sector caps or changes in the province’s total nomination allocation.
Employers in capped sectors are required to submit applications only for candidates with a work permit valid for six months or less.
For job-offer streams, SINP candidates must secure a valid SINP Job Approval Letter (JAL) as proof of employment from their employer. Employers need to submit a JAL application for each position intended for a temporary foreign worker.
Prior to receiving a JAL, candidates’ employers must complete a Job Approval Form (JAF) and submit it to the SINP to ensure the positions meet program requirements.
