On January 15, 2025, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted its initial immigration draw of the year, welcoming candidates through its Skilled Worker Stream.
Candidates were selected if they had been directly invited by the MPNP as part of a targeted recruitment effort.
Draw Results
Manitoba issued a total of 55 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) in the province’s first 2026 draw.
The MPNP extended invitations through both the province’s Skilled Worker Stream pathways: Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas.
To receive an invitation in this draw, candidates were required to have indicated in their Expression of Interest (EOI) profiles that they were invited by the province under a strategic recruitment initiative.
The majority of LAAs were granted to candidates who declared being invited under the ‘Employer Services’ recruitment initiative, comprising approximately 38% of LAAs.
Here’s the breakdown of LAAs by strategic recruitment initiative:
| Strategic recruitment initiative | Number of LAAs issued |
| Employer Services | 21 |
| Francophone Community | 7 |
| Regional Communities | 15 |
| Ethnocultural Communities | 9 |
| Temporary Public Policy to Facilitate Work Permits for Prospective Provincial Nominee Program Candidates (TPP) | 3 |
Out of the 55 LAAs issued in EOI Draw #262, 10 were given to candidates with a valid Express Entry profile and job seeker validation code.
Comparatively, Manitoba’s first draw of 2025 (EOI Draw #236) saw 197 candidates invited through its Skilled Worker Stream on January 9, indicating a slower start for the province this year.
I Met the Selection Criteria – Why Didn’t I Receive an LAA?
If you believe your EOI met the selection requirements but you did not receive an LAA, the MPNP explains it may be due to:
- You indicated that you took an approved third-party English/French test but did not provide a valid test number in your EOI, or the test results were expired; or
- You stated that you received an Invitation to Apply (ITA) to the MPNP under a strategic recruitment initiative, but the invitation number entered was not valid.
