Maximize Your PR Prospects with Canada’s Immigration Programs

Canada offers various immigration programs that utilize an expression of interest (EOI) system to select candidates for permanent residence (PR).

Submitting EOIs across multiple immigration programs in Canada can enhance your chances of securing PR.

This article explores the process of submitting EOIs across different programs and provides guidance on handling the invitation stage.

The primary economic immigration pathways in Canada include Express Entry, the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).

Express Entry

To be considered for PR through Express Entry, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria for at least one program and submit an EOI to enter the candidate pool.

Candidates can be eligible for multiple programs simultaneously, with invitations issued in the following order: Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Federal Skilled Trades Program.

Based on the candidate’s profile, a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score is assigned, and top-ranking candidates receive Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in draws.

Candidates can maintain an active Express Entry profile while also having an active EOI for a different PR pathway, such as a PNP.

Upon receiving an ITA, candidates can apply for PR through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

If an ITA is received through Express Entry, candidates can apply for PR using that invitation and still pursue other PR programs, such as Quebec’s Skilled Worker Selection Program or a PNP-run program if needed.

Provincial Nominee Program

Securing PR through the PNP involves obtaining a provincial nomination first, followed by applying for PR through IRCC.

To obtain a nomination, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria for a PNP stream and demonstrate an intent to reside in the nominating province.

Each PNP offers multiple streams for candidates to choose from, providing flexibility in the nomination process.
