Canada’s Ongoing Support for Haiti
In light of the ongoing security challenges in Haiti, Canada reaffirms its dedication to safeguarding vulnerable individuals affected by the situation. Special provisions for Haitian nationals and foreign family members of Canadian citizens and permanent residents residing in Canada have been prolonged past November 20, 2025.
Originally implemented in May 2024, these measures allow eligible individuals to apply for study or open work permits, temporary resident permits, or extensions of their temporary resident status without incurring application fees. By extending these initiatives, Canada aims to assist Haitian nationals and eligible foreign family members in remaining securely in the country, alleviating financial burdens associated with application processes. This extension underscores Canada’s unwavering commitment to providing empathetic and practical aid to those affected by global conflicts, particularly individuals who have sought refuge within its borders.
