Canada has revised the list of countries and territories that necessitate an Immigration Medical Exam (IME) for temporary residence applicants. The recent update includes the addition of four new regions and the removal of six others. As a result, individuals from the newly-added countries will now be mandated to undergo an IME, while those from the removed regions are exempt from this requirement.
Effective November 3, 2025, these changes will impact individuals who have resided in or visited these countries continuously for six months within the year preceding their arrival in Canada. Applications submitted before this date will not be subject to the new regulations.
This adjustment aligns with the existing list of over 100 countries that already require an IME for temporary residence applications.
