Insights from the September 26 Draw
The Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism in Newfoundland and Labrador released a total of 217 invitations on September 26, with 107 invitations issued under the NLPNP and 110 under the AIP.
2025 Immigration Trends
Since transitioning to an Express of Interest system in February, the province has witnessed consistent draws. Notably, the recent draws have shown an increase in invitations under the AIP, surpassing those under the NLPNP for the first time.
As of now, Newfoundland and Labrador has granted a total of 2,821 provincial immigration invitations in 2025, with 2,125 allocated to NLPNP candidates and 696 to AIP candidates.
The province negotiated an additional 1,000 nomination slots for the NLPNP in 2025, bringing the total allocation to 2,050 slots. Meanwhile, 475 slots have been maintained for the AIP.
Understanding the AIP
The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) offers a pathway to permanent residency in Canada’s Atlantic provinces. Eligible candidates must have a job offer from a designated employer in Atlantic Canada, endorsed by the province, and meet specific work experience or educational requirements.
Applicants under the AIP can receive a special work permit for up to two years, allowing them to work in Canada while their permanent residency application is processed.
Exploring the NLPNP
Newfoundland and Labrador’s Provincial Nominee Program enables the province to nominate foreign workers, international graduates, and entrepreneurs for immigration opportunities.
