Recent data from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) reveals that as of August 31, there were 958,850 applications in the backlog, marking a continuous increase from the previous month’s 901,700.

Permanent Resident applications:

For permanent residence programs, including Express Entry, Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), and family sponsorship, IRCC had 901,800 applications in its inventory. Only 431,500 were processed within service standards, leaving 470,300 in the backlog.

While specific figures are not provided, 20% of Express Entry applications were considered backlog, a decrease from the previous month. PNP applications remained at 49% in the backlog, and family sponsorship applications increased to 17%.

Temporary resident permit applications:

There were 1,038,100 temporary residence applications in IRCC’s inventory, with 600,750 being processed within service standards.
