Exploring Work Opportunities for International Students in Canada
International students in Canada have the opportunity to work while pursuing their studies, provided they have the necessary work authorization on their study permit.
On-campus employment is unrestricted, while off-campus work is limited to 24 hours per week during regular academic sessions. Additionally, students can work full-time during scheduled breaks that last at least seven consecutive days, up to a maximum of 180 days per year.
Furthermore, international students can engage in remote work for employers based outside Canada without any constraints, as long as the employer does not have a physical or financial presence in Canada.
Eligibility Criteria for Working While Studying
- Enrollment as a full-time student at a designated learning institution (DLI)
- Possession of a valid study permit with work authorization
- Commencement of the academic program
Non-compliance with these regulations may lead to consequences such as loss of student status, denial of future permits, or deportation from Canada.
